Tender called for constructing a cafeteria, bookshop at Chamarajanagar station CHAMARAJANAGAR: Chamarajanagar MP R. Dhruvanarayan has said that all efforts would be made to provide basic facilities at Chamarajanagar railway station. He was speaking to presspersons after inspecting the development works at the newly built railway station, along with B.B. Verma, Divisional Manager of Mysore Division of South Western Railway, Mysore, here on Tuesday. Mr. Dhruvanarayan said the work on the railway overpass near Mariyala Gate has been suspended since the last three months. He said he had given instructions to Mr. Verma to take steps to initiate the work and complete it within three months. He said instructions had been given to Mr. Verma to take steps to set up more facilities supplying drinking water and toilets at the railway station. He said that tender had been called for constructing a cafeteria, bookshop and parking facilities at the station. Mr. Dhruvanarayan said that the Thirupathi-Mysore fast passenger train service had been extended to Chamarajanagar. He said that the Thirupathi-Chamarajanagar passenger train service would be shortly commissioned from Chamarajanagar and that Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa will flag off the train within 15 days. He said the train will depart from Chamarajanagar at 3.00 p.m. and reach Thirupathi on the next day at 5.30 a.m. He said that five proposals to construct railway overpasses between the Chamarajanagar and Mysore railway line would be submitted to the Railway Ministry. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Verma said that steps were taken to provide facilities stipulated for ‘E’ category railway stations. Chamarajanagar railway station is classified under this category. He said that steps would be taken to provide the other facilities as instructed by Mr. Dhruvanarayan.
