ALAPPUZHA: Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran has said the Congress has already lost the November 7 byelections politically. Addressing a meet-the-press programme here on Tuesday, Mr. Sudhakaran said election pundits of the Congress were predicting that United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate A.A. Shukoor would win by a majority of about 5,000 votes. This showed that their confidence level was low even in a constituency where the Congress had managed a majority of up to 19,000 votes in recent elections. Mr. Sudhakaran criticised Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi for trying to trivialise the impact of the ASEAN Free trade pact.
