Case against cutting trees

A Correspondent

KATTAPPANA: The Social Forestry Department will file a case against those who were responsible for cutting down the tree saplings planted by Green Leaf, a NGO, on ether side of the bypass road here.

Assistant Forest Conservator P. U. Saju, who visited the spot on Monday evening, said that forester Vijayan Nair has been directed to file the complaint for destroying public property. The department has estimated the loss, he said.

The trees were reportedly cut down by workers engaged in clearing of the road under the NRGEP scheme.
