PUDUCHERRY: Four students of Vivekananda Government Higher Secondary School at Villianur were suspended on Tuesday for ragging a classmate. An official at the Directorate of School Education said the disciplinary committee of the school conducted an inquiry into the incident that occurred on October 30. Sridhar, a Standard XI student of the school, was stripped by five of his classmates and forced to stand on the parapet wall. “Following the weekend and government holiday on Monday, the committee met for the inquiry on Tuesday. An identification parade was conducted and the victim identified the four students. Another student involved in the incident did not turn up to the school,” the official said. During the inquiry, all the four students accepted that they ragged Sridhar. As the first phase of disciplinary action, the committee resolved to suspend the students till further orders. The next course of action would be taken after consultation with senior officials of the Directorate, he added.
