“Ensure personal safety to eliminate crime”

Staff Reporter

Women should avoid wearing jewels while going alone, says DIG

DINDIGUL: Personal safety and simple precautionary measures will eliminate crimes such as chain snatching and house burglary.

First, women should avoid wearing jewels while they were going alone. They should avoid using lonely interior roads, according to Sandeep Pateel, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dindigul Range).

In a release here on Tuesday, he said that women should cover their neck with saris while they were going on deserted roads.

Residents should question movement of any strangers near their houses.

Women, who are alone at home, should always lock the house and answer to strangers through windows only, he added.

The DIG also advised residents to switch on the lights in front and rear sides of their houses.

Mobile users may store the telephone numbers of the nearest police station to contact in case of an emergency. Parents should not permit children to play in open places with jewels, Mr. Pateel added.
