CUDDALORE: Collector P. Seetharaman has ordered the removal of K. Mayavel from the post of president of the Silambinathanpettai panchayat in Panruti block. In a statement released here, he said Mayavel was found to have misappropriated funds of the local body and misused his authority to withdraw money from the panchayat’s accounts. After verification as per the powers conferred on him under the Section 205 (11) of the Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act, the Collector removed Mayavel from his post.
