Food poisoning: wages sought for workers

Staff Reporter

KOLLAM: The pro-INTUC Central Women Workers Committee (CWWC) has called upon the State government to provide adequate compensation to cashew workers hospitalised with food poisoning symptoms after they consumed chicken biryani distributed during the inauguration of the Capex head office.

CWWC State president Vimala Philip and Congress leader Jameela Ibrahim said that the wages during the hospitalised period should be given to the cashew workers. Medical expenses too should be met by the government.

Ms. Ibrahim alleged that the there is also an attempt to forcibly discharge many of those hospitalised to downplay the incident.
