‘Join hands to fight corruption’

Staff Reporter

Rajahmundry: “Public servants and the general public should watch corruption and blow the whistle at right time. Lack of appreciation for the whistle-blowing, fear and indifference to the unethical practices are further contributing to the deepening of corruption in public life,” said K. Niruparani, Vice-Chancellor of Adikavi Nannayya University, delivering inaugural address at the Vigilance Awareness Week at the ONGC, Rajahmundry Asset Office premises on Tuesday. Vigilance should be a DNA of work ethic for the public executives and the general public, she underlined.

ONGC has joined hands with NDTV and Public Cause Research Foundation (PCRF), an organisation set up by Magsaysay awardee Arvind Kejriwal to lead the movement of the RTI.

ONGC will present this year’s RTI awards instituted by the NDTV and PCRF, said A.A. Khan, Executive Director and Asset Manager, Rajahmundry Asset. ONGC is the champion of transparency in the country and it is the first PSU to introduce Integrity Pact to bring in total transparency in the contracting practices, he underlined. Integrity Pact (IP) is a tool devised by Transparency International (TI) in the 1990s to fight corruption in public contracting. It contributes to improve the credibility of public procedures and administration, he added.

J. A. Kumar, GM-HR underscored that ONGC is the first company to have the centum compliance of CVC guidelines.
