Kozhikode: The Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) will establish a medical college in Wayanad with a multi-specialty hospital. Azad Mooppen, chairman, MIMS, said on Tuesday that the aim was to provide highly subsidised treatment to the BPL population in general and adivasis in particular. The MIMS Wayanad Medical College will be at Meppadi on a 50-acre plot, which would be developed into a medical township named Naseera Nagar, he said. The project is estimated to cost Rs.100 crore. The medical college would initially admit 100 students. He also added that MIMS Charitable Trust would establish its second non-profit dialysis centre in Wayanad.
