Tourism industry in Mysore to get a boost

Mysore: The city will host Mysore Travel Mart during January 2010 to showcase the tourism potential of the region to stakeholders in the travel industry.

To be organised by the Mysore Travel Agents’ Association, the event will be held from January 18 to 20 and will provide a platform for travel and tourism related services and products to reach out to the potential travellers of Mysore and neighbouring districts.

In a release, S.P. Shanthinath, Chairman of Mysore Travel Mart 2010 said they were soliciting travel and tour operators, airlines, and hospitality industries from all over India and abroad to participate in the mart.

The main objective is to promote tourism related activities to showcase Mysore in particular and other tourist destination of Karnataka in general and stakeholders can be benefited with mutual contacts and exchange of ideas, according to the organisers.

“With due publicity gained by these events, we expect more number of visitors to Mysore which will result in increase of revenue to the State and also other related developments. The growth of tourism in the city and State will create more employment opportunities,” said Mr. Shanthimath.

There will be presentation on the heritage buildings of Mysore apart from seminars on eco-tourism, health tourism, yoga tourism and resource persons and experts from the relevant field will be invited to participate in the Mysore Travel Mart, said the organisers.
