Coimbatore: San Diego State University (SDSU), California on Monday inked Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PSG Institutions and GRG PSGR Krishnammal College for women. The MoU with PSG Institutions was signed by G. Rangaswamy, Managing Trustee and SDSU, Provost, Nancy Marlin in the presence of PSG Trustee V. Rajan, Chief Executive Officer C.R. Swaminathan, Director of Advanced Studies P. Radhakrishnan, Director of Management Studies R. Nandagopal. Principal R. Rudramoorthy of PSG Tech, S. Ramalingam of PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research and Sheela Ramachandran of PSG CAS besides SDSU representatives Alan Sweedler, Director, Centre for Energy Studies, Paul Wong, Dean and N. Madhavan, Emeritus Professor. The MOUs were signed after culmination of a series of meetings and discussions between the institutions for more than a year. The signatories told media persons that four agreements were being signed for global and specific agreements. As a first initiative , there would be summer course for SDSU students in India at Coimbatore giving them an exposure to a variety of subjects pertaining to India and Indian students would be visiting SDSU. The primary areas of the MoU would be in management, public health and nursing. However, the faculties on either side would discuss and identify areas where the co-operation and collaboration could be extended. SDSU had so far signed such agreements with more than 43 institutions, however the MoUs signed on Monday were the first with an Indian Institution. The MoUs would focus on exchange of students, faculty, co-operative development of courses and academic curriculum, development of scientific and technological research projects or any other activity of mutual interest regarding academic or scientific and technological research matters. Later in the day, Provost Dr.Nancy Marlin and Nandini Rangasamy, Secretary of GRG PSGR Krishnammal College for Women signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Dr. Nancy Marlin, Dr. M. Madhavan said that this is the first MoU of SDSU with a Women’s Educational Institution.
