Award for doctor

KOZHIKODE: Dr. K. Suresh Kumar, director of the Institute of Palliative Medicine and a founder-member of the palliative care movement, has been chosen for the AV Award instituted by the AV Abdurahiman Haji Foundation. The award instituted in memory of the late A.V. Abdurahiman Haji, former MLA and leader of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), carries a cash prize of Rs.25,000 and citation.

Dr. Sureshkumar’s contributions to development of a viable community-driven initiative for providing palliative care to terminally ill patients had been recognised and appreciated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and by universities across the world.
