Double for Karthik

BANGALORE: C.P. Karthik bagged a double as he won the men’s and youth boys singles title in the M.S. Ramaiah memorial 12th annual state open table tennis tournament held at Canara Union, here on Monday.

Karthik trounced M.V. Sandeep in the youth boys’ final at 12-10, 11-9, 11-5, 11-6. Later the youngster defeated a struggling Anirban Tarafdar for the men’s singles crown at 12-10, 9-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-6.

In the women’s event, N. Poojitha took top honours overcoming a fighting C. Subhashree in seven sets 9-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-6, 8-11, 6-11, 11-8.

Other results (best of seven): Men: Semifinals: Anirban Tarafdar bt Sagayaraj 11-8, 11-6, 11-6, 11-5; C.P. Karthik bt Jaydeep Das 13-11; 11-8; 11-7; 11-4.
