Suresh lifted a total weight of 627.5kg to win the silver medal in the men’s 56-kg category. He lifted 255kg in squat, 175kg in benchpress and 255kg in deadlift. Another Indian in the fray, Joseph Midhun lifted a total of 560kg to finish seventh among eight lifters. The gold medal in the 56kg went to Russian Sergey Fedosienko (715kg). Wszola Dariusz (622.5kg) of Poland took the bronze. In the men’s 60kg, Rana pipped compatriot S. Raja Vimal for the bronze medal. Both of them lifted an identical weight of 640kg each. However, Rana (255kg squat, 120kg benchpress, 265kg deadlift) was chosen over Vimal (260kg squat, 135kg benchpress and 245kg deadlift) for the medal on the basis of better ‘Wilks’ points. The gold and silver went to Tsung-Ting Hsieh (730kg) of Chinese Taipei and Konstantin Danilov (717.5kg) of Russia respectively.
