Emergency meet reviews security at airport

Nedumbassery: An emergency security meeting convened by the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) on Monday appealed for a thorough and speedy investigation by the agencies probing the incident of security breach at the airport on Saturday last when a man was found standing near the parking bay.

The meeting of senior CIAL officials led by the airport director, A.C.K. Nair, said and representatives of the various security agencies including the State police and the Central Industrial Security Force ruled out the possibility of any foul play or a conspiracy behind the incident.

It also reviewed the overall security network at the airport and decided to strengthen the regular inspection of the airport premises.

The airport director also gave strict instructions to the security agencies to take steps to prevent such incidents in future.

Official sources said the agencies would also launch a search around the perimeter to find any loopholes through which one could enter the protected area.

A decision to expedite the installation of state-of-the-art security equipment at the airport perimeter was also taken.
