VISAKHAPATNAM: One of the conjoined twins, who was separated from the other half-formed baby through a surgery, died after midnight on Sunday the King George Hospital here. Doctors at the KGH said after the surgery on Saturday that the baby was in a critical condition and a few more days were required for it to become normal. Kept under intensive care and monitored round the clock, the baby was given artificial respiration. “The baby boy separated from his parasite twin was in a critical condition and his airways were in a bad shape and could not take oxygen. His own respiration had not been restored,” said Chief of Paediatric Surgery K.V. Janardhana Rao. “Head of the other twin (half-formed) was pressing the neck of the fully formed twin throughout the nine months in the mother’s womb. Because of this the airways have not been formed properly,” Dr. Janardhana Rao said.
