KALPETTA: Alappuzha won the men’s team championship in the State senior table tennis championships at the NMDC hall here on Monday. Alappuzha defeated Thiruvananthapuram 3-1 in the final. However, Thiruvananthapuram women wrested the title from Alappuzha in a closely fought final which former won 3-2. Alappuzha won the junior boys team title defeating Thirvananthapuram 3-2 in the final. The results (final): Men: Alappuzha bt Thiruvananthapuram 3-1 (M.R. Rajeev bt P. Adarsh 7-11, 11-9, 11-7, 12-10; Vishnunarayanan lost to M. Harikrishnan 9-11, 6-11, 6-11. S. Sundar bt Jai Stephen 11-2, 11-6, 11-9; Vishnunarayanan bt P. Adarsh 11-8, 11-6, 12-10). Junior boys: Alappuzha bt Thiruvananthapuram 3–2 (S. Sundar lost to M. Harikrishnan 10-12, 7-11, 9-11; Vishnunarayanan bt V.P. Arjun 12-10, 9-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6; Sundar & Vishnu lost to Hari & Arjun 12-10, 9-11, 11-5, 5-11, 10-12; Vishnunarayanan bt Harikrishnan 11-9, 11-9, 6-11, 14-12; Sundar bt Arjun 11-3, 11-4, 11-5).
