The exhibition to continue up to November 22 Discount ranging from 10 to 30 per cent being offered
Students taking a look at some of the titles at the 11th Guntur Book Festival being held on the premises of A.L B.Ed College in Guntur on Monday. GUNTUR: One of the most eagerly awaited events -- The Guntur Book Festival -- began on the premises of A.L B. Ed College Campus near Lodge Centre. The only of its kind in the district, the 11th Book Festival organised by Visalaandhra Publishing House and Visaalandhra Book House has books catering to all age groups and of all genres. The exhibition has an exhaustive collection of books on English language, communication and grammar. The highlight is a series of low-priced editions from Cambridge Press authored by John O Conor. There are several books on vocabulary building, teaching English and on pronunciation. A pocket guide to English language, consists of the rudimentary grammatical concepts and considered as a good handbook on English grammar. Among the books on fiction are, Paul Coelho’s best-seller ‘The Alchemist’ and his other titles. Works of many of the popular fiction writers are too available at the exhibition that starts at 10 a.m. every day. Over 20,000 titles from leading book publishing houses like Oxford University Press, Orient Longman, India Book House and National Book Trust are featured in the exhibition which would continue till November 22. Apart from regular collection, an exhaustive collection of guides for Toefl, IELTS were also available. New collectionA new collection of Rabindranath Tagore’s works titled ‘Omnibus” draped in a colourful jacket is an interesting choice. Keeping in tune with rise in demand for health, spiritual and philosophical books, the organisers have arranged a vast collection of books on yoga. A book ‘Karma Yoga’ by Swami Sukhabodhananda offers his experiences of conquering self through yogic meditations. There are a series of children’s books, books on gardening, cooking etc. Exhibition convener A.M.R. Anand said that a 10 per cent discount on all books was being offered, 30 per cent discount on selected books and a discount ranging from 10-25 per cent for engineering books. Cultural and literary programmes organised by Progressive Writers’ Association at a special dais cap off the day.
