Sikhs take out procession in Bidar on their leader’s birth anniversary

BIDAR: The 540th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak was celebrated by the Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Sahib and members of the Sikh community here on Monday.

The members of the Prabandhak Committee of Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Sahib organised a procession of “Nishan Sahibs” which had come from Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, Maharashtra. The procession was flagged off from Nanak Jhira premises in the city. Holy arms and fireworks were displayed in the procession while Sikh bands played music all along. A Sehajdhari Maratha Kirtani Jatha of Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib was also staged. The procession passed through Ambedkar Chowk, Mohan Market, Guru Nanak Colony and returned to the Jhira premises. Hundreds of Sikhs from Nanded and Hyderabad city participated. The police had tightened security around the city as a precaution.
