New Delhi
NEW DELHI: The new time-table of Northern Railway effective from November 1 was released by its General Manager Vivek Sahai here on Saturday. The salient features of the new time-table include introduction of 28 new trains -- 11 Duronto (non-stop) trains, 15 Express trains and two Yuva trains. The frequency of seven trains has been increased and eight trains have been extended for greater connectivity to farther regions. The two new weekly “Yuva” trains mentioned in the time-table will remain in effect till June 30 next year. They are Howrah-New Delhi Yuva Express and Bandra Terminus-Hazrat Nizamuddin Yuva Express. While the former will leave New Delhi at 4-10 p.m. on Sunday and reach Howrah the next day at 10-40 a.m., the latter will leave Nizamuddin on Saturday at 3-50 p.m. and reach Bandra Terminus the next day at 8-20 a.m. These trains will cater mostly to youth and will have AC double-decker coaches. Fifteen other new trains including a Shatabdi Express between Kanpur and New Delhi also figure in the time-table. The Shatabdi will run six days a week, leaving New Delhi at 4 p.m. and Kanpur at 6 a.m. The Northern Railway has also decided to run two trains announced in this year’s Railway budget from the upcoming Anand Vihar railway station. These two are Anand Vihar-Farakka biweekly express and Anand Vihar-New Jalpaiguri biweekly express. Mr. Sahai said Northern Railway has been undertaking several initiatives for passengers’ comfort and convenience. Passengers can now SMS their complaints to 9717630982 for immediate redress. The Railway would inform the complainant about the action taken. Initially, it will operate during the day but later the service will run round-the-clock.
