New train schedules from today

Timings of four trains starting from Mangalore have been changed

Yeshwanthpur-Mangalore train extended to Kannur


MANGALORE: Southern Railway (SR) has announced changes in the schedules of four trains at Mangalore from November 1.

Public Relations Officer of the Palghat division S. James said in a press release that the Chennai Central-Mangalore Central West Coast Express (train no. 6627) will arrive here at 4.50 a.m. instead of 5 a.m. The Chennai Central-Mangalore Express (no. 2685) will arrive here at 7.45 a.m. instead of 9.10 a.m. This train will leave Chennai at 4.10 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. The Chennai Central-Mangalore Mail (no. 2601) will arrive at noon instead of 12.20 p.m. It will leave Chennai at 8 p.m. instead of 8.15 p.m. The Coimbatore-Mangalore Passenger (no. 387) will arrive here at 8 p.m. instead of 7.30 p.m. The Mangalore-Kannur Passenger (no. 624) will reach the destination at 8.45 a.m. instead of 8.40 a.m.

Kannur extension

The other salient features of the new train table include announcement of the timings for the Yeshwanthpu-Mangalore train (no. 6517), extended up to Kannur in Kerala, although the date of actual extension will be announced later. The press note said the train which arrives from Yeshwanthpur at 8.35 a.m. will leave here at 9 a.m. and reach Kannur at 11.45 a.m. On its return journey, it will start from Kannur at 4.40 p.m. and arrive here at 7.15 p.m. and leave for Yeshwanthpur at 7.45 p.m. to reach the destination at 7.40 a.m. the next day.

New Train

The newly introduced Mangalore-Kochuveli (no. 6605) train will leave here on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.15 a.m. and reach Kochuveli at 9.30 p.m. On the return journey (train no. 6606), it leaves Kochuveli on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 3.45 a.m. and arrive here at 5.35 p.m.

The new time table includes many trains which are announced in the railway budgets but are yet to be introduced. Two of these trains pass through Mangalore Junction. They are: Hapa-Tirunelveli-Hapa Bi-weekly superfast Express (no. 2998/97); and Madgao-Ernakulam-Madgao Weekly Superfast (no. 0215/0216).

When the Mangalore-Chennai Central weekly Express is extended up to Puducherry, it will reach the destination at 11.50 a.m. and leave from there at 1.20 a.m., according to the new time table.

Extension will be notified later.

It also gives the arrival and departure timings of the Ernakulam-Jaipur train (no. 2977/78) at Ajmer, when it is extended up to Ajmer.
