Casares (Spain): Ace Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh crashed out of the Volvo World Match Play Championship with successive defeats against Camilo Villegas and Ross Fisher here. The highest-ranked Indian golfer, first from the sub-continent to qualify for the elite tournament, could not build on his stunning first round win against Lee Westwood. In his third Group D match, Jeev lost narrowly to Fisher by a solitary hole to crash out. The match against Fisher was closely fought even though the Englishman hit gold on a three-hole stretch, firing back-to-back eagles and went four-up after 10 holes. Jeev birdied the 11th, 14th, 16th and 18th holes to reduce the gap but it was not enough in the end. Kim enters finalAnthony Kim of the United States beat Robert Allenby 5 and 4 to reach the final. Kim, who beat the Australian 5 and 3 at the Presidents Cup, rallied from an early two-hole deficit in near perfect conditions at the Finca Cortesin golf course on Saturday before pulling away from the 27th. The American first overcame an errant tee shot at the 26th to save par and halve the hole before holing out from 101 yards for an eagle at 27. He sank a birdie putt at the 28th for a four hole advantage that deflated Allenby. Ross Fisher rallied from a three-hole deficit to draw even with Masters champion Angel Cabrera halfway through their semifinals. Fisher’s birdie-4 on the last hole capped a back nine turnaround, with the Argentine having been 3-up after 13 holes. — Agencies
