Stakhovsky in final

ST. PETERSBURG: Ukraine’s Sergiy Stakhovsky reached the final of the St. Petersburg Open ATP tournament, beating Marat Safin in the semifinal here on Saturday.

Stakhovsky won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in one hour 48 minutes.

Jankovic in last four

At Doha, Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic crushed leg-weary Caroline Wozniacki to enter the semifinals of the WTA championships.

In the semifinals, Serena Williams will face White Group runner-up Wozniacki, while sister Venus plays Jankovic.

The results: At Doha (WTA championships): White Group: Agnieszka Radwanska bt Victoria Azarenka 4-6, 7-5, 4-1 (retd.); Jelena Jankovic bt Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-2. Maroon Group: Svetlana Kuznetsova bt Elena Dementieva 6-3, 6-2.
