BHUBANESWAR: Director of National Institute of Science, Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, T.K. Chandrasekhar has been formally inducted as fellow of TWAS, an autonomous international organisation based in Trieste, Italy that promotes scientific capacity and excellence, for his contribution in the field of chemical science. “There are only nine Indians elected as the fellows in the year 2008. Of which only two are from chemical science, Mr. Chandrasekhar and director of Indian Association of Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata, Kankan Bhattacharya,” said NISER in a release here on Friday. General meeting of TWAS was recently held in South Africa. NISER said TWAS has more than 900 members from 90 countries, over 85 per cent of whom live and work in developing countries.
