Commotion at Hosur municipal council meeting

HOSUR: Commotion prevailed at municipal council meeting on Wednesday over auctioning of shops at the new bus stand here at the Revenue Divisional Office. Protesting against the move, councillors of the ruling DMK, Congress and the Opposition AIADMK staged a walkout from the meeting.

AIADMK councillors led by Thavamani also staged a walk out.

Yuvaraj (DMK) and Vijakumar (Congress) questioned the allotment of shops to the existing shop owners from whom lakhs of rupees were pending as arrears. They also protested against the manner in which the auction was conducted at the RDO.

Earlier, the chairman of the council, S. A. Satya thanked the councillors in extending their cooperation for undertaking various development works at an outlay of Rs. 30 crore in Hosur.

He also informed the council that E.G. Sugavanam, MP, has accepted in principle to allocate Rs. 25-lakh for construction of Indoor Stadium inside the Government Higher Secondary School in Hosur.
