NEW DELHI: A software engineer allegedly poisoned his newly wedded wife in the house of a relative at Shakarpur in the trans-Yamuna area on Tuesday. A hunt has been launched for him. Indu (21), whose parents live in Roorkee, had married Rahul Verma about six months ago. It is alleged that Rahul soon started misbehaving with her for dowry. Indu recently went back to her parents but was forcibly taken to Muzaffarnagar from where Rahul brought her to the Capital on Monday. They stayed at one of his relatives’ place in Shakarpur. According to the police, Rahul allegedly made Indu consume cold drinks allegedly laced with some poisonous substance on Tuesday evening and fled. When her condition deteriorated, she was taken to Walia Nursing Home. Subsequently her parents were informed. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case of causing hurt by poisoning and are on the lookout for Rahul, who works for a private firm at Nehru Place. Investigations have also been initiated into the allegations of dowry demands. After being discharged, Indu has gone back to Roorkee along with her father, the police said.
