Billiards & Snooker
BANGALORE: Pankaj Advani, following a refreshing break after the senior Nationals at Agra, where he won both the billiards and snooker titles, looks forward to a “good show” in the Asian indoor championship which gets underway in Vietnam on October 31. Prior to his departure for Ho Chi Minh City, the World champion said: “I hope to perform well and I reckon we should bring home at least half a dozen medals.” Advani, however, acknowledged that the knockout format should make things a bit difficult, especially in snooker, where the field is world class. The Indian ace will take part in billiards, snooker and 6-red snooker. Two other cueists from Karnataka, Chitra Magimairaj and Indira Gowda who are also the members of the Indian cue sports team, left along with Advani. Chitra, who was the runner-up in the Australian Open snooker championship recently said: “I hope to carry on the momentum and I have trained hard for the event.” — Special Correspondent
