Badminton tournament at FACT School notes

An all-Kerala shuttle badminton tournament for students of ICSE/ISC schools will be held at the FACT Udyogamandal Club on October 30. There will be separate tournaments for boys and girls. At the primary level, the competition will be restricted to singles alone. For more details contact: 98951-16118, 0484-2551214.

Sports event

Nava Nirman Public School hosted the fifth All-Kerala Inter-School Mini-Basketball Tournament, Graham Stuart Staines Memorial Sports Quiz and Triathlon last week. Mayor Mercy Williams gave away the prizes to the winners. St. Mary’s, Thamarachal, emerged winners in the basketball tournament in the boys’ category and Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, won the competition in the girls’ category.

BVM, Elamakkara bagged the first prize in the quiz competition followed by the teams from Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, and the host Nava Nirman Public School. In triathlon, Reuben Robert John of Nava Nirman won the first prize in the boys’ category while Reshma Susan of Assisi Vidyalaya bagged the prize in the girls’ category.

Wins music competition

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Thripunithura, emerged winner in the classical music competition “Nadanirtjari” organised by Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal, on October 24. NSS Higher Secondary School, Thripunithura, was the runner-up. Famous musician Ambalapuzha Thulasi inaugurated the event conducted with the aim to promote pure music and inculcate awareness about music in young minds.

Oratorial contest

Ambica Nambiar and Radhika Janardhanan of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kannur, won the Swami Chinmayananda Ever Rolling Trophy instituted for the oratorical contest for Chinmaya Vidyalaya students from across the State. Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Thripunithura, hosted the event that was open to students from Classes 9 to 12. Radhika Janardhanan was adjudged the best speaker followed by Sreekesh D of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kannamaly, and Krishnan K.R. of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Pallavur. Vinod B. Nair, ENT specialist at the PVS Hospital, Kaloor, who was the guest of honour, gave away the prizes.
