MGU women’s basketball
ALUVA: The Mahatma Gandhi University women’s inter-collegiate basketball championship begins at the St. Xavier’s College here on Monday.
Defending champion Assumption (Changanassery), last year’s runner-up St. Xavier’s, Alphonsa (Pala), Mar Thoma (Thiruvalla), Union Christian (Aluva), St. Peter’s (Kolencherry) and St. Teresa’s (Ernakulam) are some of the teams which have confirmed their entry.
Other interested teams may report to the tournament convener Pearly Alex of St. Xavier’s College at 8 a.m. on Monday. The three-day tournament will be played on a knockout and league basis with the top four from the knockout round progressing to the league. – Principal Correspondent
