Reward for staff of two railway stations for proper upkeep More amenities at Vaitheeswarankoil station mooted KUMBAKONAM: The General Manager of Southern Railway M.S. Jayanth conducted a surprise inspection at Sundaraperumalkoil and Pandaravadai railway stations in the Thanjavur-Kumbakonam section and also a manned-level crossing near Pandaravadai on Monday. Mr. Jayanth announced a reward of Rs.5,000 each to the station masters and other staff of the two railway stations for their proper upkeep. Later he inspected the Kumbakonam railway station. Mr. Jayanth also inspected the Mayiladuturai–Sirkazhi section, a part of the Mayiladuturai–Villupuram gauge conversion project. While inspecting the Vaitheeswarankoil station, the General Manager suggested the creation of various passenger amenities keeping in view the flow of devotees to this temple town. In a brief interaction with presspersons at Mayiladuturai station, the General Managersaid the ongoing gauge conversion work in the 122-km Villupuram–Mayiladuturai section would be completed by the end of this year. S. Subramhanyan, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, Ashok Kumar, Senior Divisional Engineer – Coordination, S. Srinivasan, Senior Divisional Safety Officer, Murugaraj, Senior Divisional Operations Manager, A. P. Muthuramalingam, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and other officials accompanied the General Manager.
