Dhananjay, Rakesh hog the limelight

HYDERABAD: A century by G. Dhananjay (102) and a five-wicket spell by D.E. Rakesh Kumar helped R.K. Puram to record a 10-run win over Agarwal Seniors in the A-Division (one-day) league cricket championship match here on Tuesday.

Team Kun 158 (Upender 50, Ibrahim Hashim five for 29) lost to Khurshid Jah 159 for three (Mahboob Ahmed 54, Ibrahim Hashim 57).

Karvy wins trophy

Karvy emerged the champion in the fourth State Bank of Hyderabad Twenty-20 Corporate Cup cricket tournament, defeating Shore Infotech by five wickets in the final.

Chasing 120 for victory, Karvy coasted home thanks to a breezy knock by Anup Kumar (73, 45 balls, 12 x 4, 1 x 6).

Special prizes were given to Nagaraj of SBH (best wicket-keeper), Pradipta of Dell International (best bowler), Srikant of Shore Infotech (best batsman) and Sanjeev Reddy of Karvy (best all-rounder).

Mr. Virinchi, AGM, SBH, gave away the prizes.

Shore Infotech 119 for five (Sunil 65) lost to Karvy 120 for five (Anup Kumar 73).

Akshat named captain

P. Akshath Reddy will lead Hyderabad in the South Zone (under-19) one-day cricket championship to be held in Goa from October 20 to 26 and also in the practice matches to be played in Amritsar (Punjab) from October 7 to 17.

Hyderabad Cricket Association named the probables for the State team for the South Zone inter-state (under-19) women’s cricket tournament to be held here from October 13.
