THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The official website of the 35th National Games, to be held across seven centres in Kerala in May 2010, was launched by the Food & Civil Supplies Minister, C. Divakaran, at a function held here on Wednesday. The website ( www.35thnationalgames.in), developed by C-DIT on behalf of the National Games secretariat, basically provides information about Kerala and the steps being taken for the smooth conduct of the prestigious event. Speaking at the function, Mr. Divakaran hoped that the conduct of the Games by itself would provide a shot in the arm for Kerala sport in the long run. All sections of society too had a large role to play in the smooth conduct of the Games as the prestige of the State itself is involved. The Sports Minister, M. Vijayakumar, in his presidential address pointed out about the three-pronged strategy being adopted for the conduct of the Games. The Games, he said, would not only showcase the talent that the country possessed in different disciplines but also help prepare the Indian contingent for the coming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and the Asian Games in China. Veteran volleyball player, S. Gopinath and acting Director (Sports & Youth Affairs), Mohammed Ashraf, offered felicitations, while NGS CEO, M.S. Jaya, welcomed the gathering. — Special Correspondent
