CPI cadres demand steps to improve infrastructure

Seek an integrated bus stand to reduce congestion

TIRUCHI: The cadres of the Communist Party of India (CPI) staged a demonstration at Chinthamani on Thursday demanding steps for improving various infrastructure facilities for the over all development of the city.

They demanded the setting up of integrated bus stand for reducing congestion in the city limits.

Their other demands included widening of the over bridges at Junction, near Maris theatre complex, Tiruvanaikovil, Woraiyur Kasivilangam to ensure free flow of traffic, construction of a new vegetable market at the Gandhi Market campus with cold storage facility.

Facilities important

The State committee member of the Communist Party of India, M. Selvaraj, secretary of the city unit of the party, K. Suresh, P. Durairaj of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), G. Eswari and D. Sheela of the National Federation of Indian Women, O. R. Sriraman, leader of the CPI Corporation Councillors, who spoke on the occasion underlined the importance of creating these facilities with immediate effect for the overall development of the city.

The party’s Corporation Councillors, V. Pushpam and Thangaraj also participated in the demonstration organised by the city unit of the party.
