Party time: Fardeen Khan and Genelia D’Souza rock the dance floor in Life Partner. Life Partner (Hindi) Cast: Govinda, Fardeen Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Genelia D’souza, Prachi Desai Director: Rumy Jaffery After the experiment, it is back to the tried and tested. He continues to be loud, his dress sense remains preposterous, his face gives away his age, but Govinda has a way with the layman. As Rumy Jaffery takes the “No Entry” route, he puts some life into a subject that is well past its expiry date. Such subjects require at least three men who have three different takes on marriage. Here, one believes in love marriage, another in an arranged one and the third doesn’t believe in the institution at all. Rumy has got the casting right. Fardeen Khan has resurfaced, but thankfully as a cool dude who believes love and adventure are synonymous, the only thing he has mastered in a decade-long career. Tusshar Kapoor plays a son whose father thinks is too young to select a bride for himself. Over the years, he has mastered the part. Govinda is their advocate friend who advises them against marrying because it ultimately leads to divorce. Genelia D’Souza as the love interest of Fardeen Khan, who keeps on changing professions, keeps the decibel level unappetisingly high, but her bubbly factor and some funny lines work in her favour. In contrast, Prachi Desai has got some meaningful lines and she does justice to the part of an IIM graduate caught in a conservative Gujarati family. Such films rely on how many lines can make you laugh and how many situations can tickle your funny bone. With Darshan Jariwala, Vikram Gokhale and Anupam Kher in the support cast, Rumy has got his punches, and there are many, in the right hands.
