TDP slams YSR for price hike

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has criticised Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for “openly expressing helplessness” in controlling the steep rise in the price of red gram that was burdening the common man.
TDP legislator G. Muddukrishnama Naidu, senior leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu and others launched a trenchant attack on Dr. Reddy’s “inefficiency” in checking the price of essential commodities. The reported statement by the Chief Minister, who could invoke the provisions under the Essential Commodities Act to rein in prices, was tantamount to giving licence to traders to further jack up the prices of red gram.
