NEW DELHI: Two more persons have been arrested in connection with the clash between two groups in Chirag Dilli this past month in which two young men were allegedly stabbed to death and one of the assailants was lynched by the victims’ relatives. The two arrested have been identified as Manoj Gulia (22) and Shashi Kant Bhardwaj (21), both residents of Chirag Dilli. A total of seven persons have been arrested so far. According to the police, Nikku and Amit had liquor during a ring ceremony at Sanatan Dharam Mandir on June 25 and had an altercation with Vijender and Vikas when the two objected to their behaviour. The two left the function midway allegedly threatening Vijender and Vikas with dire consequences. On June 26, Amit and Nikku allegedly reached the residence of Vijender and Vikas in Chirag Dilli armed with sticks, knives and razor along with their friends and beat up the two. One of the assailants, Manoj, carried a country-made pistol. While Amit and Nikku pushed the two to the ground and stabbed them, their friends continued to beat them up. While the assailants were trying to flee, some neighbours and relatives rushed to their help and managed to overpower one of the assailants, Sumit. The angry residents then lynched Sumit. Later, Vijender and Vikas also succumbed to their injuries. Manoj Gulia, who works as a draftsman in a private company, allegedly beat up the victims with a baseball bat. Shashi Kant is a DJ. The two have no previous criminal involvement.
