Guntur
GUNTUR: Agriculture Market Committee Guntur Chairman Lella Appireddy played a catalyst role in bringing together all the Congress leaders from Palnadu region in Guntur district under the leadership of defeated Congress candidate from Narsaraopet Parliament seat Vallabhaneni Balashourie. Prominent absentees among the leaders at a luncheon in the Market Yard Guest House on Saturday afternoon were defeated Chilakaluripet Congress candidate Marri Rajasekhar, defeated Gurazala candidate Ala Venkateswarlu and Sattenapalli MLA Yerram Venkateswara Reddy. The former Tenali MP, who narrowly lost (by a margin of 1,600 votes) to TDP candidate M. Venugopala Reddy, toured all the Palnadu Assembly constituencies beginning Thursday and claimed that there was tumultuous welcome accorded to him by people in all villages. Public supportAsked about the purpose for his visit to all the constituencies and the luncheon meeting in Guntur gathering all the Congress leaders, he said that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy expected Congress leaders victorious or defeated in the recent elections, to strengthen party position for the upcoming Municipal elections. Mr. Balashourie said that Dr. Reddy had not taken any decision on whether all the defeated Congress candidates should be made in charge of those Assembly constituencies, but evaded an answer if all the defeated Lok Sabha candidates were made in charge. “I lost the election by a very narrow margin. The reasons for defeat could be many, but I have tremendous public support and I wish to tour entire Narsaraopet Parlimaentary constituency every month to ensure all programmes of YSR Government reached people at grassroots,” Mr. Balashourie added. For touring the constituency, he said that he did not require any direction from anyone, but his intimacy with the Chief Minister had brought him some message to ensure victory of all the Congress candidates in the Vinukonda, Piduguralla and Chilakaluripet municipalities, for which he would strive in his own way taking along all the Congress leaders from the region. Others present on the occasion were MLC T.G.V. Krishna Reddy, Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, GDCCB Chairman Nallapati Chandrasekhar Rao, former Vinukonda MLA Makkena Mallikarjun Rao, defeated Congress candidate from Vinukonda Chebrolu Narendra, and former Gurazala MLA Janga Krishna Murthy.
