CHENNAI: K.B. Arun Karthick and S. Badrinath slammed centuries for Vijay against UFCC (T. Nagar) while Rahil Shah took six wickets to put Parry’s in a strong position against IOB in day-two action in the first round of the TNCA first division league here. Dharma chipped in with three wickets. For Indian Bank, D. Mohsin Basha scored 53 (113b, 9x4). Southern Railway finished the day on 141 for four after Aruna declared its first innings on 401 for nine. T. Dushyanth was unbeaten on 72 (194b, 9x4) for Railway. Aruna’s P. Shijit Chandran took two wickets in the space of 12 balls. Earlier, M.P. Rajesh (88, 149b, 9x4, 1x6) and S. Senthil Kumar (62, 62b, 10x4, 2x6) batted well for Aruna. Railway’s left-arm spinner P. Prashant returned figures of four for 66. Arun Karthick (118, 136b, 13x4, 1x6) and Badrinath (127, 94b, 12x4, 4x6) went to three figures in their first appearances for Vijay. Their centuries were complemented by R. Prasanna’s 64 (115b, 9x4), S. Suresh Kumar’s 66 (104b, 7x4, 1x6), and M.K. Siva Kumar’s unbeaten 51 (66b, 3x4, 1x6). Vijay made 468 for seven before declaring its innings for a lead of 278.
