Rating of SHGs from July 16

TIRUNELVELI: Rating of self-help groups in the district, a mandatory exercise for getting loan, will begin on July 16. According to Collector M. Jayaraman, financial assistances by the Central and State Governments such as revolving fund, economic assistance and direct linkage etc. can be extended only to the SHGs that have been rated. Only SHGs that were started just six months ago or later alone will be eligible. They should not have availed financial assistance from the government. Besides conducting the weekly meetings, they should have periodically paid in the banks their savings and membership fee and maintained records regularly.

While rating for SHGs in Kadayam and Pappakudi unions will be done on July 16 in the respective union offices, evaluation of the groups in Ambasamudram, Cheranmahadevi and Palayamkottai has been scheduled the following day. Moreover, SHGs in the corporation area may also attend the rating to be held on the same day (July 17) in the union offices concerned.

Schedule: Valliyoor and Radhapuram (July 21), Tenkasi and Shencottai (July 22 at Tenkasi union office), Kadayanallur and Vasudevanallur (July 23), Alangulam and Keezhapaavoor (July 24), Sankarankovil and Melaneelithanallur (July 28) and Nanguneri and Kalakkad (July 29). SHGs, which unsuccessfully attended previous rating sessions may also participate and aspiring SHGs may get more details from Block Development Offices or Project Officer, Mahalir Thittam.
