BANGALORE: The Boost Cup inter-school cricket tournament is getting bigger each passing year. Nearly 128 schools from Bangalore city have entered for the third edition of the Boost Cup for boys under 16 that will commence at different venues from July 13. What began as Kellogg’s Cup 12 years ago and then became Parle Cup is now being held in seven cities in the State. Top 16 teams from the last edition have been seeded straight into the second stage which will be played on a 50 over a side format. The remaining 112 schools have been divided into 37 groups of three and will vie for the two qualifiers berth which along with the six schools from the rural centres will figure in the next stage. The top two teams will then qualify for the ‘Inter-City Challenge’. Two players Amal Raj and Rakshit from Presidency School, who were part of the Boost XI that played a three-match series against the visiting Sri Lanka Schools XI were presented mementoes by KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel at a press conference here on Thursday night.
