MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA) court on Thursday rejected the bail application of the Malegaon blast suspect, sadhvi Pragnya Singh Thakur. Public Prosecutor Rohini Salian told The Hindu that the main contention in the bail plea was over the date of filing the charge sheet. “We filed it in time. Defence was counting the day of arrest from the day she was called from Madhya Pradesh, which is incorrect.” According to the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad, the sadhvi was arrested on October 23 last. The prosecution filed the charge sheet on January 20, 2009. The stipulated period for filing a charge sheet is 90 days. The sadhvi has been accused of providing logistics support for the execution of the September 29, 2008 blast. According to investigators, her LML Freedom motorcycle was used in the blast. She also offered to provide two persons for the Pune-based Abhinav Bharat, founded by Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit, the alleged mastermind behind the blast. Counsel Mahesh Jethmalani pleaded the sadhvi’s bail case. Another lawyer Ganesh Sovani told The Hindu that defence would challenge the order in the Bombay High Court.
