Cheque and cash missing from mutt in Karur

KARUR: The Pasupathypalayam police in Karur district have registered a complaint from the head of the Ramakrishna Tapovanam’s Branch Mutt at Pasupathypalayam here in Karur in which he has stated that a cheque for Rs. 10 lakh and cash amounting to Rs. 6 lakh has been stolen from a room in the mutt.
Swami Bodhananda had preferred a complaint with the police that he had kept the cash and the cheque in a safe room in the mutt to be used for the building construction activity that was going on in the premises that also houses a school.
He has alleged in his complaint that he had left the cash and the signed cheque in a draw in the chest at a safe room in the mutt before proceeding to Tiruvannamalai on Saturday.
When he returned he found the cash and the cheque missing. Immediately he informed the police which rushed a team to investigate the matter.
The police have detained a person working in the mutt on suspicion and are questioning him over the missing money.
