DUTA protests DCE exit from Delhi University

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi University Teachers’ Association sat on a dharna outside the Delhi Assembly on Thursday demanding retention of the Delhi College of Engineering with Delhi University.

“The DCE has earned its name and fame under the umbrella of DU. We have been demanding that DU take over DCE,” said DUTA president Aditya Narayan Misra.

“A DUTA delegation met Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday to convey that while the Delhi Government may set up its technical university, this move should not take away the DCE from DU. The members also drew her attention to the recent report of the Yashpal Committee which recommends that for better academic growth of the technical colleges, they should form part of the general university,” said Mr. Misra.
