“Parents’ role important in shaping children’s career”

Karur Collector honours examination toppers



Honour: Rank holders in the SSLC and Plus Two examinations from among the backward and most backward classes being honoured by Collector (in charge) C. Munirathinam in Karur on Wednesday.

KARUR: Parents have a duty to understand what educational course their wards wished to pursue and should encourage them in their endeavour.

Only then the efforts of the children in bringing glory to their parents and teachers would be fulfilled, Collector (in charge) C. Munirathinam said here on Wednesday.

Addressing the toppers in the Plus Two and SSLC examinations from among the backward and most backward classes in Karur district he pointed out that the parents had a definite role to play in shaping the career of their children.

Hardwork pays

Planned hard work and determination would take students great places and they should replicate the success in life as well, he advised them.

Cheques

The Collector gave away cheques to 24 awardees that the State Government honoured through the Department of Backward and Most Backward Classes Welfare.

The Plus Two toppers among the Most Backward classes category Sasikumar and Sathyarani got Rs. 3,000 each, while the second placed Thirumalaisamy and Manimozhi got Rs. 2,000 each and the third placed Sabareesh and Darshini were awarded Rs. 1,000 each.

Among the SSLC students Jeevarajan and Sivasankari, the toppers, got Rs. 1,500 each, while the second placed Kaviselvan and Diya got Rs. 1,000 each and the third placed Purushottaman and Priyadarshini got Rs. 500 each.

The toppers among the Backward Classes in the Plus Two examinations Vimal and Swathika got Rs. 1,500 each, while the second placed Divakar, Pavithra and Sindhuja were given Rs. 1,000 each and the third placed Naveen, Ranjith Kumar, Nandhini, Divya and Shanmugapriya got Rs. 500 each.

District Backward Classes Welfare Officer Subramanian and parents of the ranking students were present on the occasion.
