384 teachers attend counselling

Anxious moments: Secondary grade teachers looking at the vacancy list before the counselling session at Krishnagiri Government Girls Higher Secondary School on Thursday.
KRISHNAGIRI/DHARMAPURI: About 384 candidates attended the counselling for the post of secondary grade teachers in the government schools in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts.
Seventy-five candidates from Dharmapuri attended the counselling, out of which 72 were issued orders.
For the first time the counselling was conducted online, like engineering and medical counselling, said Mr. N. Thirunavukkarasu, District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO).
There were 308 vacancies in the district in elementary schools.
Three candidates chose to attend the State-level counselling at Tiruchy from July 12 and 13, he added.
209 candidates from Krishnagiri district attended the counseling at the Krishnagiri Government Girls Higher Secondary School.
There were 460 vacancies.
Among those who attended counselling online were 125 for Tamil, 75 for Telugu, 4 for Kannada and 4 for Urdu, said Mr. S. Kandasamy, District Elementary Education Officer (In-charge).
Those who got placed according to their choice would be joining duty on July 15 at their respective schools, he said.
