Driven by the message of peace

Staff Reporter

In the aftermath of Mumbai terrorist attack

Bangalore: The 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack exposed how vulnerable the country was to terrorist attacks. In the aftermath, citizens took up many initiatives to spread the message of peace and harmony. One such initiative by Dilpreet Singh, Director of Catering Sales at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi, is under way. He resolved to drive across the length and breadth of the country, hoping to traverse more than 12,000 km, covering 42 locations and 60 Taj hotels in 33 days. All this to spread the message of peace and harmony.

Upon arriving at Taj Residency here in the city, he interacted with the staff, evoking the spirit of “Taj”. Speaking to presspersons later, he said that the purpose of the journey was to salute the courage of the ordinary Mumbaikar and show solidarity with employees of Taj Mumbai, and send a strong message against terror activities. “When I saw the dome burning, I decided I could not remain passive. Since driving is my passion, I decided to go on an all-India car journey to spread the message of solidarity,” he said.

Asked about his experiences so far, he said, “I started on June 20 from Delhi, and I have driven 7,900 km and covered 18 cities. The car is decked up with messages of peace and slogans and a route map. People everywhere, not just employees of the Taj, have been supportive about this endeavour. Ordinary civilians have come forward to write messages to express solidarity with the cause.”
