Two nights with distinguished vocalists

Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: Noted Hindustani vocalist Kalapini Komkali, daughter and disciple of immortal Hindustani vocalist Kumar Gandharva, and Pandit Vinayak Torvi, considered a jewel of Karnataka’s Hindustani classical music, would be performing in Gulbarga city on July 11 and 12.

Concerts

The concerts are being organised by the Nada Lahari Charitable Trust and Research Centre, formed recently by a handful of citizens, who are die-hard Hindustani music lovers. The concerts would be held at the newly-constructed S. M. Pandit Rangamandir in the city.

While Pandit Vinayak Torvi enthrals the audience with his inimitable “Gayaki” style and the classical musical gharana of Gwalior on July 11, Kalapini Komkali will showcase the “akar” of her father Gandharva.

The highlight of her performance will be the pure “swara” that her father used to exhibit in his heydays.

President of the centre Prashant Kamalapurkar said here on Thursday that the admission to the music concert was through a donation pass, which is available at the Devata Hospital in the city and at the venue. Call Dr. Kamalapurkar on Ph: 9449822973 for further details.
