TDP asks LSP to clarify doubts

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam has made it clear that it is ready to join a debate with the Lok Satta Party but not before the latter clarifies certain doubts that persist among the people.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, TDP legislators Ravula -- Chandrasekhara Reddy and D. Narendra Kumar -- responded to the letter sent by the LSP and sought clarification on a host of issues.

These included the source of funding for the Foundation for Democratic Reforms that was set up before converting it into Lok Satta and then to LSP.

The LSP should disclose why its president Jayaprakash Narayan joined National Advisory Council headed by Sonia Gandhi when he said he was opposed to dynastic politics.

Congress support

He should explain why he could not ensure even half of the votes he got in Kukatpally Assembly constituency for the party’s Lok Sabha candidate. He won from Kukatpally by securing 72,000 votes but his Lok Sabha counterpart could get just 27,000. It meant that both the Congress and LSP came to understanding for securing each others support.

They said it was too much for the LSP to expect TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu to participate in the debate.
