Governor attends fete organised by YSR Yuva Sena Warangal party worker performs special ‘yagam’ HYDERABAD: Congress workers across the State celebrated the 60th birthday of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in a grand manner. Blood donation camps, poor feeding, community lunches, cake-cutting and distribution of fruits to the sick and inmates of old age homes marked the birthday celebrations, even as Dr. Reddy and his family kept the celebration a low profile affair. Cake cutIn the capital, Governor N. D. Tiwari was the chief guest at the birthday celebrations organised by YSR Yuva Sena president Chintal Rajasekhar at Ravindra Bharati in the city. Sixty youth donated blood to mark the occasion while a 60 kg cake was cut by the chief guest on the occasion. Tourism Minister J. Geeta Reddy and former Minister Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy also participated in the celebrations. Elsewhere in the city, activists of the Greater Hyderabad Youth Congress led by its president K. Ravi Kumar Yadav organised blood donation. Health Minister Dana Nagender inaugurated the camp. Fruits distributedIt was celebration time for inmates of old age home in Tarnaka, when Congress workers under the leadership of APCC secretary Banda Chandra Reddy distributed fruits and cut a cake. In Warangal, a senior party workers Rajnala Srihari performed a ‘yagam’ with sixty ‘homa gundams’ with a hundred Vedic pundits. He is known to organise unique programmes every year on such an occasion, ever since Dr. Reddy became the Chief Minister in 2004. Congress MPs also celebrated Dr. Reddy’s birthday by cutting a cake in A.P. Bhavan in New Delhi.
