HYDERABAD: Wings Aviation has announced the launch of an Airbus A320 maintenance training course in association with Advance Aircraft Training (AAT), a UK-based institute. CMD of the academy, Y. Prabhakar Reddy, said the course included 35 days of classroom theory classes, after which the participants would fly to Almati in Kazakhstan, where they would be given hands-on training at Air Astana. At a cost of Rs. 5 lakh, the course, Mr. Reddy said, would be highly useful for the airlines that wanted engineers trained in Airbus and for individuals who wanted themselves to be abreast of technology. This was the first time in India that a non-airliner was offering such a course. Hitherto, only airlines were arranging for training at the Airbus Industries in Toulouse, France, he said. Improving skillsMd. Abid Hussain, Director-Operations and Technical, said classes had already been started for the first batch. Of the 10 trainees, five had joined to improve their skill sets. The training was at three levels - general familiarisation, ramp and dispatch and in base maintenance, he said. Alan, an instructor from AAT, said Wings Aviation had, by offering such an advanced course, opened up the possibility of aircraft maintenance engineers from the entire Asia-Pacific region to advance their skills. The 45 days of theory and practicals would equip engineers to work confidently on airframe and engine maintenance and on the avionics of A320, he said.
